The Civil War Harley Tour
My husband has ridden dirt bikes all his life, but for as long as I've known him, he's mooned over the idea of owning a Harley. When he decided he'd reached a point in his life where he was sure he could keep both wheels on the ground, I decided he needed to have one. He reached a milestone birthday last year, I got him a brand new Electra Glide. He was like the proverbial kid in the candy store. We bought helmets, gloves, sunglasses, leather jackets and boots...all the gear we needed for cruising. Problem was, I'd had some less than comfortable experiences in the past, and despite the bravado, I wasn't really convinced I could get on the back of another bike.
I'm delighted to say that after the first outing, I was "cured". The experience of sitting in my own comfy seat is soooooo much more enjoyable than sharing a seat and holding on for dear life. We spent a lot of time on the bike last summer and fall, taking rides to some where and more often, to nowhere!
Our daughter, Courtney is convinced we're having a mid-ilfe crisis.
Winters in Massachusetts can be long and dreary, and the mooning began again as he waited for the first signs of spring and any excuse to get back on the bike. To help him, I suggested he start thinking about summer instead, and a two-week long trip through the south. And so, since we're both history buffs, the Civil War Harley Tour was born.
We've almost finalized the plan for this adventure, the states we'll visit and the sites we'll see, starting with Gettysburg. A lot of our friends have asked that we keep them posted (no pun intended), so we'll be blogging our ride through history.
Stay tuned!
